How Will This Resource Increase Student Engagement?

Research projects don't have to be boring! This travel brochure project transforms traditional research into a meaningful, creative experience that students actually enjoy.

Gives Students an Authentic Purpose

Instead of simply collecting facts, students create a brochure designed to encourage others to visit their country. This real-world application makes research feel more meaningful and engaging.

Encourages Creativity

Students can personalize their brochures with illustrations and interesting facts while still focusing on academic content. It's the perfect balance of creativity and learning.

Combines Research and Writing

Students practice researching, taking notes, organizing information, summarizing key details, and writing informational text—all within one project.

Builds Ownership of Learning

When students become the "experts" on their chosen country, they are often more invested in the learning process and excited to share what they've discovered.

Creates Cross-Curricular Connections

This activity naturally blends geography, social studies, reading, research, and writing, making it a great fit for classrooms and homeschool settings alike.

Ways to Use This Travel Brochure Project in Your Classroom or Homeschool Space

One of the best things about this travel brochure project is its flexibility. Whether you're teaching in a traditional classroom, small group setting, or homeschool environment, there are so many ways to make it fit your students' needs.

Geography and Social Studies Units

Use the brochure as a culminating project for a country study, geography unit, or world cultures lesson. Students can dive deeper into a specific country while applying their research skills.

Informational Writing Practice

Looking for a more engaging alternative to a traditional report? Students will practice researching, organizing information, summarizing key details, and writing informative text as they complete their brochures.

Independent Research Projects

Allow students to choose a country that interests them and become the classroom expert. Choice often leads to higher engagement and stronger final projects.

Small Group or Partner Work

Assign students to work together to research and complete a brochure. This is a great way to build collaboration and communication skills while sharing the research workload.

Homeschool Country Studies

Exploring countries around the world in your homeschool? This brochure provides a fun way for children to document what they've learned about geography, culture, traditions, food, and famous landmarks.

Around the World Showcase

Display completed brochures around your classroom, hallway, or homeschool learning space. Students can participate in a gallery walk and learn about countries from their classmates' research.

Teacher Tips

Don't Skip the Research Phase

It can be tempting to jump straight to the brochure, but spending time on note-taking first will lead to much stronger final projects. Think of it as packing your suitcase before the trip!

Create a Travel Agency Atmosphere

Turn students into travel agents by encouraging them to "sell" their country to potential visitors. You'll be amazed at how much more invested they become when they have an authentic audience in mind.

Let Students Choose Their Country

Whenever possible, give students some choice. Whether they select a country connected to their heritage, a dream vacation destination, or a place they've never heard of before, choice often leads to greater engagement.

Display the Finished Brochures

Don't let all that hard work disappear into a desk or folder! Create an "Around the World" bulletin board, hallway display, or gallery walk where students can explore each other's countries.

Add a Passport Challenge

Have students "visit" several classmates' brochures and record new facts they learned from each destination. It's a fun way to extend the learning and encourage students to read one another's work.

Celebrate the Journey

When the brochures are complete, host a mini travel expo! Students can share interesting facts, favorite foods, famous landmarks, or surprising discoveries from their research. No plane ticket required.
